had a coversation with a very close friend (of 15 years) and understands how i feel about the wt org.

he himself is a serious doubter.

i on the other hand am not a doubter, i know with every living ounce of myself that this is a cult!

They do not want you to have fun, have memories, or build relationships with family that will take you in when you wake up!

I am trying to put my life back together with family, realizing that they have made their own "family" of friends that have shown love to them and become 'family' when I wasn't there.

And yep, Pete, it's the old Red Pill/ Blue Pill choice.... If you just keep taking the Blu Pill you can keep having that comfy life, living in paradise, even tho it's not true.. it's just a fantasy.

Thanks Phizzy for boiling it down, making it obvious: The WT uses the word "doubt" to make you feel bad, when really we don't 'doubt', we know the truth about the truth.... it is a lie.

so im at the meeting after its over and this elder says to me that god needs my voice because he, the elder, feels that my singing is not loud enough.

i did not tell him this, but singing just is not my thing.

he then went on saying how gods people are better singers than "the worlds singers".

i've been out nearly two years but it's not out of me.

i am on school holidays now til february so i thought without work to worry about i can come off my medication.

i phased it slowly, starting in early november to avoid the physical side effects of coming down.

Hey Julia, You are a sweet, caring person, from what I have learned of you on this forum.

When 'we' leave the cult, we can not let it take our self worth, our ANY thing from us.

I think that, because they shun us, or try to make us feel left out or 'bad', BECAUSE we are actually good, loving, honest people, we want to 'fix it', 'clarify it', have 'justice,' explain it or help them..... To say that that is disturbing is A.O.K, because it is reality.... and reality is good.

Maybe it's like the Borg on Star Trek.. the people that have been made into robot like creatures... they cannot feel, they cannot think, they cannot realize the situation they are in, they USE to be human....

and then, there is the one... the one borg that has a slight chance... that listens and changes (they had one on Star Trek) and understands, and gets human feelings back.

Coming to grips with this is hard... the people I use to laugh and share things with have reverted back to their borg-like personalities... I ask myself this: "Just because I left the borg, am I less human? No, I am more human. I am going to try to find some small special thing to enjoy at different times throughout my day... the fire I am sitting beside, my cat on my lap, my husband & I being able to be realllly together.

I like to think of the many people here on this forum who really do understand what it is like, and offer their support.

the abuse, harms, thefts, suicides, family destruction - leave it in jehovah's hands.. why would anyone with a more than 2 neurons say, "oh that makes sense," we do not need to change or intervene in any way.. sooner or later, god will take of things.. .

who is to blame jehovahs witnesses and the bible students believing the end was coming in 1914?

ive been reading lots of older magazines and they are so different from todays watchtower!

the current writers from the organization blame everyone except themselves for failed expectations, failed prophecy, "financial ruin and dependance on the goverment "old age social security and medicaid" on their rank-and-file members.

No longer to use "house to house record" slips and "please follow up slips"!

a letter has just been read out indicating that effective immediately, witnesses are no longer to use the s-8 slip known as the "house to house" record slip, as well as the s-43 "please follow up" slip (usually used for foreign language people).. the letter stated that this is because of the changes in privacy laws etc that are becoming common in the world today.. i will try and get a copy of the full letter and post it asap.. .

More money that could be used in the "worldwide defense suits" re: pedophiles.

as we all know, the internet is a real game-changer in allowing us to know the truth about the watch tower and its history.

i always had doubts and it was the internet that presented me with the ever-growing number of individuals who were going through a similar struggle.. i give the internet a 9 in my awakening.

Altho we sliced and diced the Nov 2011 WT about 607 apart using the WT quotes themselves, we used the internet too look up the references they gave. Then we used the internet to look up court cases, read depositions, letters to bodies of elders, etc.

We used the internet to confirm what we had come to conclusions to already... Coming here, to this site, we could not believe that 607 had been discussed / discovered/ disproven for so many years! Thanks to all who put in so much hard work!

if you are/were an active jw, you are now here on jwn so, for whatever your reasons, you woke up to some degree- hopefully a great degree.

so what i am saying may not apply to you.. i know that if i had not already left, i would have stormed out on the day they studied "overlapping generation.

" i am quite confident i couldn't have stayed for such an obvious switcharoo just to make the end seem imminent and try to explain how wts was wrong, but not entirely wrong in the past.. but i had to wonder how that change (or others) didn't cause most jw's to walk out.

Very interesting, as I am always analyzing, "What can I say to 'crack the egg'?"

In other words, I think that once a crack into the armor of JW's thinking is made, more info can flow into it. Having your wife think about subjects that are just like JW subjects/ controversies/ hypocrocies I think is a good idea, as later, it will alow her brain to 'take that route.'

Just as the WT repeats, repeats, repeats, and things are grooved / etched into our brains, so too can WE start etching new grooves that will allow info to be routed there...

If your wife hates it when people lie in court, and the pedophiles gets away, and kids get hurt when priests get moved from church to church, then she will have a hard time saying "it's ok for the WT lawyers to lie in court" or "it's ok that we didn't know that a pedophile was in our congregation"...

My mom started studying when I was five... I am now 59, and i would not want to live a lie.... It was a bit hard at first, as I thought I had a very cozy future planned out for me by the creator of the universe. However, as nice as that seemed, I would never, ever, ever want to support an organization that lies, and uses people and harms people. Life is too precious.
